Fires are burning across the Inland Northwest with the biggest burning outside of Spokane and across the state line in Kellogg, Idaho.
SPOKANE, Wash. — This week has brought warm weather and severe winds across the Inland Northwest, from central Washington all the way into North Idaho. With the hot and windy conditions have come several wildfires that are prompting evacuations across the region.
The Upriver Fire is burning just outside the city of Spokane. Since Tuesday afternoon, it has burned over 220 acres and is only 10% contained, as of Wednesday morning.
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources said that nearly 12,000 people were threatened by the fire and over 2,000 structures have been evacuated.
