Woman missing for 3 days discovered alive, stuck in mud in the Park Rapids woods

A woman who had not been seen for three days after becoming stuck in mud was discovered by two passing by West Fargo men, who saved her.

The two men were frequent travelers in the wooded area near Park Rapids, using their UTVs to ride the trails, but decided to take a completely new path on a whim, they told WDAY.

On that trail, the two men came across a van and 68-year-old Kathryn Woessner, stuck in a puddle of mud, calling for help.

Woessner, 100 miles away from her home, had been missing for three days.

The puddle, estimated by the men to be around two feet deep, worked just like quicksand, keeping her stuck after she had slipped and fallen into it.

Woessner is currently recovering from the ordeal and is expected to make a full recovery.

Authorities are still investigating how Woessner got so far from her house and ended up on the remote trail.
