Wisconsin woman dies in Chisago County head-on crash on Highway 8

A woman has died and another is facing life-threatening injuries after a head-on crash in Chisago County on Tuesday night, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

A 75-year-old Wisconsin woman was heading east on Highway 8 when she crossed the center line in her Ford Ranger and collided head on with a Nissan Murano.

After the crash, the driver of the Ford Ranger, Rebecca Mae Freedom was pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan Murano, 65-year-old Jane Ogbonne Martins, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to MSP, alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this crash. Both women were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash happened near the intersection of Highway 8 and 270th St. in Chisago County.
