KSTP Sports’ Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson caught up with former Eden Prairie boys hockey coach Lee Smith. He was behind the bench for Carolina Hurricanes star forward Jackson Blake’s high school career.
Carolina plays Vegas in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Tuesday night.
Smith can’t wait to watch his former player on the game’s biggest stage.
Blake helped Eden Prairie win the 2021 AA State Championship, scoring the game-winning goal in double overtime to beat Lakeville South.
Smith, now a juniors coach in Utah, led Eden Prairie to three state titles, 13 state tournament appearances, and over 540 wins in 29-years in charge.
Blake played for the Eagles 2019-2021.
