We spoke with St. Thomas men’s hoops coach Johnny Tauer on Monday afternoon about the Tommies-Gophers matchup finally coming to fruition. It’ll take place on Fri. Nov. 6 at Williams Arena.
The official announcement came Monday morning. However, Tauer admitted that he felt very confident it would happen before he left on a trip nearly two weeks ago.

The first Division I era meeting between the programs will be their eighth all-time matchup and first in over 90-years. The Tommies and Gophers last met Dec. 11, 1934, according to St. Thomas records. The previous seven meetings occurred at Minnesota, with St. Thomas’ lone win coming Dec. 16, 1933.
The Gophers and Tommies will also play on the women’s side and will square off on Tues. Dec. 1 at the Barn. Tipoff times will be announced at a later date. ...
