Concessions workers at Target Field are preparing to walk off the job as a contract dispute with their employer intensifies.
According to the union that represents them, nearly 500 employees are fighting for a new contract that includes fair wages, affordable healthcare, and stronger job protections.
UNITE HERE Local 17 says that the concessions workers employed by Delaware North Company (DNC) currently make minimum wage and lack access to employer-provided healthcare. On Thursday morning, they will announce a strike date.
The announcement follows a successful strike authorization vote on May 1, where 81% of the workers voted in favor of a strike if a contract agreement could not be reached.
