An investigation is taking place at the St. Croix County Jail after an inmate there was found unresponsive and later declared dead.
The St. Croix County Sheriff said the inmate, a 22-year-old man, was discovered at 6:28 a.m. unresponsive in the “Huber dorm” in the jail.
Life-saving measures were attempted, but the man was pronounced dead.
As is policy, a separate law enforcement agency will need to conduct the death investigation. The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and will be handling the investigation.
The man’s identity will be released at a later date.
