Confusion and frustration over downtown Stillwater parking is growing as a petition with hundreds of signatures pushes for changes to fees for residents and workers.
The debate comes as the city steps up parking enforcement and residents question how parking works downtown. In Stillwater, some spots are free for a certain amount of time while others are paid lots.
Resident Mya Lysne said she started a Change.org petition because she is tired of paying to park where she lives and works.
“I’d say it’s annoying, chaotic, and confusing,” Lysne said.
What is changing?
Lysne said the issue is about more than cost. She said she does not think residents and workers should have to pay the same way visitors do.
“It’s the principle of having to pay when I go to work. I come here to get money, not to lose money,” Lysne said.
