MINNEAPOLIS — Six years after George Floyd was killed, the vision for the square named in his honor is still uncertain.
The Minneapolis City Council voted to deny the recommendation to allow Minnesota Agape Movement to have exclusive rights to redevelop the Peoples’ Way, a non-functioning gas station, at the square.
“This process has been so extremely painful for everyone involved,” said Council Member Soren Stevenson. “The vote to deny the recommendation is painful as well, but it is also the right thing to do. This is not the right plan or timeline for the Peoples’ Way.”
