The plan to extend the Blue Line from Minneapolis to Brooklyn Park would now cost nearly $3.6 billion as some lawmakers want to stop the project altogether.
MINNEAPOLIS — A new report is out that finds the cost to extend the Blue Line light rail from downtown Minneapolis to Brooklyn Park is going up again.
The 116-page report from the Metropolitan Council estimates the extension has gone up another $336 million, bringing the total cost to $3.58 billion.
"We wanted to make sure as policymakers we had good data, and accurate numbers and so this report is very helpful in that," said Republican Representative Jon Koznick, who also chairs the House Transportation Committee.
