WASHINGTON — More than 1,000 people gathered in Palm Springs, California, to honor Marilyn Monroe on what would have been her 100th birthday.
Over the weekend, the event gathered hundreds of people who dressed up as the iconic Hollywood figure, filling Palm Springs' downtown with Monroe's "The Seven Year Itch" outfit and blonde wigs.
"Oh, it's incredible like her fans, they just all came out here, they love her and we're celebrating our love for Marilyn," one fan told local TV stations KESQ.
On Monday, the late actress and one of the most recognizable figures of pop culture would have turned 100. Marilyn, who was born Norma Jeane Mortensen, died in 1962 at the age of 36.
