Kids take over TCO Stadium for annual Vikings flag football tournament

Kids from first to eighth grade took the field for the YMCA of the North’s Vikings flag football tournament, which focused on giving everyone a chance to play.

Sunday morning saw nearly 3,000 children at TCO Stadium to compete for flag football championships in the all-city tournament.

Anthony Perry, YMCA Sports Coordinator, believes events like the Vikings Flag Football Tournament are important for young children because they give them an opportunity to get out of the house and meet others.

“Yeah, I think it’s really important to have kids spend time with other kids,” Perry said. “I think it’s a great way for them to be social and interact with different people.”

Thirteen-year-old wide receiver Jackson Stocke said he was trying to emulate Justin Jefferson while competing with his Centennial team and taking in the experience.
