Sunday night, four community leaders accepted the award on behalf of the people of the Twin Cities.
BOSTON, Massachusetts — The people of the Twin Cities received the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award on Sunday night in Boston.
The award is presented annually by the JFK Library Foundation to public servants for "making a courageous decision of conscience without regard for the personal or professional consequences."
When talking about why Twin Cities residents would be recognized, the bipartisan committee of national, political and community leaders said, "for risking their lives to protect their neighbors and immigrant community members from an unprecedented federal law enforcement operation, peacefully defending the human rights and values that serve as the foundation of our Constitutional democracy."
