High School baseball coach Kevin Lomon says his only thought was protecting the 13 players in his care after one called saying a man had pulled a knife.

CAMERON, Okla — An Oklahoma high school baseball coach says he didn’t have much time to think when one of his players called from a hotel room saying a man had pulled a knife.

Kevin Lomon, the head baseball coach at Cameron High School in southeastern Oklahoma, was traveling with 13 players for a baseball game in Shawnee, Oklahoma, when the incident happened Aug. 14.

Lomon said the team had returned to its hotel after playing earlier that day. Around 9 p.m., one of his players called him.
