Quantavis Lovett beat the odds. Just weeks after being removed from life support, the high school senior walked across the graduation stage.
DUBLIN, Ga. — Three days after celebrating his 18th birthday, Quantavis Lovett was fighting for his life.
The Dublin High School graduate from Dublin, Ga., was spending time with family members May 5 when someone opened fire at the gathering. Lovett was struck by three bullets. One tore through his neck and came to rest in his cheek, where it remains today.
He said he spent six days in the hospital, two of those on life support.
For Lovett, the road to that moment began long before May 5. Football was his world. When he got to Dublin High School, Lovett threw himself into the sport, attending camps every summer and picking up basketball and track in the offseason to stay sharp.
