A former Wright County deputy has been charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a foreign exchange student staying in his home.
Matthew Johnathon Weaver, 44, is facing two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
According to court records, a 15-year-old boy who was a foreign exchange student told a school counselor on Jan. 13 that his host father, identified as Weaver, had been inappropriately touching him for the past month-and-a-half.
The teenager said the incidents began in November 2025 and included Weaver inappropriately touching him, making sexual comments and kissing him on the neck and cheek, the criminal complaint states.
Court documents note the boy would sometimes not want to cuddle with Weaver, but didn’t say that to him because he would get mad easily.
