As the U.S.-Iran conflict continues, fertilizer prices have risen by nearly 40% for Minnesota farmers amid global supply problems.
As originally reported by WDIO, nearly half of the world’s “urea”, which is a main component of fertilizer, comes from the Middle East and now farmers across Minnesota are having to adjust for higher costs.
Jadell Cavallin of Little Waldo Farms shared what he has experienced.
“All the products that you have to purchase to make all of this happen are certainly going to see an increase,” Cavallin said. “You see the increase in prices at the store for the small amounts that we might buy but I certainly know of other farmers that are dealing with that.”
