This year marks 10 years since the music icon passed away.
MINNEAPOLIS — Thousands turned downtown Minneapolis into a sea of purple Saturday, honoring hometown music legend Prince a decade after his passing and just one day before what would have been his 68th birthday.
Music from the iconic artist echoed through the streets as fans gathered for a day of remembrance, celebration, and connection.
“I’m watching the people smile, the unity, the sense of community,” said Virginia Scott, who traveled from Dayton, Ohio to attend the Prince celebration.
Visitors traveled across the country, and even the world, to take part. Dyana Duonau came all the way from Amsterdam to take part in the festivities.
"The first song I heard was Controversy, and it opened my world," Duonau said.
