'Do not drive': Ford recall of two models warns drivers could lose control of their vehicles

The issue with the suspension in certain Bronco Sport and Maverick models could cause drivers to lose control of their vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

WASHINGTON — Ford is urging owners of select Bronco Sport and Maverick models not to drive their vehicles over a suspension issue. 

The recall warns that the front lower control arm ball joints may have been incorrectly installed or incorrectly repaired at the vehicle assembly plant, which makes them susceptible to disconnecting. That disconnection could cause loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. 

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall notice estimates roughly 4,653 vehicles are impacted: 2021-2026 Bronco Sport and 2022-2026 Maverick.
