DHS: Only 2,000 of 5,600 high-risk Medicaid providers revalidated upon review

Minnesota completed its sweeping review of close to 5,600 providers across 13 Medicaid-based services identified as vulnerable to fraud, and less than half were approved to keep operating as usual.

The Minnesota Department of Human Services said it met its May 31 deadline imposed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to finish its revalidation of those providers, a prerequisite to release the federal government’s hold on $350 million in deferred Medicaid payments amid fraud concerns.

Of the 5,583 high-risk providers, 2,061 were successfully revalidated, while 3,411 were disenrolled and will stop receiving payments.
