Saylor Hayes was found dead Monday morning in water near where she was last seen.
PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. — Deputies in South Carolina arrested the parents of a child found dead in the water off the coastline, saying they put the child at risk by letting her be near the shore.
Deputies announced that John Herb Hayes and Geordyn Nichole Hayes were arrested Tuesday evening, Sept. 1 in Carter County, Tennessee. They're both charged with unlawfully placing a child at risk/willfully abandoning a child for their actions in the disappearance and subsequent death of their child, 5-year-old Saylor Hayes, who was nonverbal and autistic.
