Dakota County beach closes for the year due to high levels of E. coli

DAKOTA COUNTY, Minn. — The beach at Lake Byllesby Regional Park near Cannon Falls is closed for the remainder of the year because of high E. coli levels, officials said.

Dakota County sent out a release saying that the beach was closed Thursday and won't reopen for the rest of the year. The campground and other park amenities, however, will remain open.

Officials say there have been no reports of illnesses, but are asking anyone who believes they got sick after swimming to contact the Minnesota Department of Health at 1-877-366-3455. Reports can also be submitted online.
