Congress is weighing another step that could revive the disputed Twin Metals mine project near the Boundary Waters after a budget bill was advanced by a U.S. House committee.

Two key federal mineral leases for the copper nickel project were canceled under the Biden administration in 2022.

Congress voted in April to roll back a mining ban in the Boundary Waters watershed.
