Child caregiver accused of helping beat a toddler to death sentenced to 15 years

A woman accused of beating a 3-year-old child with her boyfriend, resulting in the boy’s death, has been sentenced.

According to court documents, Shiann Lynn Erickson, 24, was issued an 180-month sentence (15 years) for second-degree murder in the death of 3-year-old  Easton Deronjic. She will get credit for 689 days for time already served.

As previously reported, Erickson and her boyfriend, Mason Garza, were both arrested after Easton died while in their care. Easton’s mother said the two had been caring for her children, Easton and an unnamed child, due to “personal reasons” since August of 2023, according to court documents.
