Brooklyn Park neighbors remember Melissa and Mark Hortman on the 1-year anniversary of their passing

Brooklyn Park, the city Melissa and Mark Hortman called home, is remembering the couple on the one-year anniversary of their passing.

On a road near the Hortmans’ house, neighbors have placed several signs in memory of the couple.

Cindy Christen put up a sign in front of her home a year ago after the shooting.

“I think it’s important to remember her forever,” Christen said. “Remembering the good and not the horrible thing. Not the act that happened, but the good that she brought to the community and to the state.”
