The University of Wisconsin-Stout has officially been renamed UW-Stout Polytechnic.
MENOMONIE, Wis. — UW-Stout officially has a new name that leaders say better reflects its mission.
The western Wisconsin school announced Thursday that its new normal name is the University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic, or UW-Stout Polytechnic informally.
"The new name reflects who we are — and who we’ve always been. Applied learning and research, business and industry collaboration, and career-focused experiences have been the foundation of this institution since James Huff Stout founded it as a manual training school in 1891, school officials said in a news release.
