The Birch Bay Fire that was detected on Monday afternoon has now burned 30 acres and remains active, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Forest Service-Superior National Forest.
The fire is located northwest of the North Arm of Burntside Lake and YMCA Camp du Nord says that staff is continuing their summer training as planned.
Firefighting efforts are still underway as of Tuesday morning with near-critical fire weather with hot temperatures, low relative humidity and south winds of 5-10 mph.
People are being asked to stay away from the North Arm Road area.
The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
