SUPERIOR, Wis. — The Coast Guard is trying to find out who stole a Twin Ports lighthouse beacon, warning that the theft could "lead to catastrophic vessel collisions."
According to the Coast Guard Investigative Service (CGIS), someone or some people recently stole the beacon that was inside the Superior Entry South Breakwater Light. That's the lighthouse at the end of Wisconsin Point.
The theft happened on May 13, officials say. The suspects forced their way into the building and severed the power supply before taking the beacon.
