A wild coyote was found in Surprise, Arizona, covered in Cholla cactus spines.
PHOENIX — A coyote pup is recovering after a brutal run-in with a cholla cactus in Arizona.
The animal was found, covered in thousands of spines, in the town of Surprise, about 30 miles northwest of Phoenix. Thanks to some careful work by the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center, the little coyote is expected to be OK, KPNX reported.
But this pup definitely learned the hard way that cholla cacti are not to be messed with.
"This coyote is roughly 4 to 6 weeks old," said Berkeley Martineau, a veterinary tech at the SW Wildlife Conservation Center in Scottsdale. He said last week that they received a call regarding a coyote who had gotten entangled in some cholla cactus.
