6.1 magnitude earthquake strikes near Cuba, felt in parts of Florida

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, it had received several reports of shaking from the earthquake across southwestern Florida.

WASHINGTON — A 6.1-magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Cuba on Monday was felt in parts of Florida and shook buildings in Havana and beyond.

No injuries or damage were immediately reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake hit at a depth of six miles in waters about 65 miles west of Mantua, Cuba, right around 2 p.m. Eastern.
