A trio of men are facing felony charges after gunfire erupted at a local park sending families ducking for cover on May 24, according to a criminal complaint.
Brooklyn Park police rushed to Oak Grove Park after neighbors reported lots of gunfire. Ultimately, investigators found 74 spent shell casings scattered across the parking lot and near a park pavilion.
A witness told police that he was hosting a family picnic when two opposing groups began shooting at each other. Nobody was hit during the incident.
According to court documents, surveillance video shows the three suspects getting out of a Nissan Rogue and opening fire, shattering the glass of an occupied Jeep caught in the crossfire.
The three suspects fled on foot and after a search of the area, police were able to arrest them near on the Rush Creek Trail System.
