Centennial School District confirmed that Centennial Middle School and Blue Heron Elementary were placed on lockdown as a "precautionary measure" while the Anoka County Office responds to the incident. The county sheriff's office confirmed that it was responding to an "active incident" but didn't provide any additional details.
In an email to families in the district, officials said they were directed by the sheriff's office to place the schools in lockdown. All other schools are operating as normal.
