An 18-year-old drowned after falling out of his kayak while fishing on a Wright County lake.
At 8:18 p.m. on Monday, Wright County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Pleasant Lake in Corinna Township for a possible drowning.
Law enforcement found an overturned kayak near the public access and dock on the north side of the lake, where multiple people had been fishing at the time.
Witnesses said that an 18-year-old was fishing from the kayak about 75 to 100 yards from the dock when he fell in the water.
The man was found by a dive team and identified by Wright County authorities as Cameron Mertens from Watkins.
